A
TOOL BOX FOR TEACHERS
The Tool Box
for Teachers: Planning, Assessment &
Evaluation, and Reporting was compiled
with the intention of helping educators pull
together the many elements of these
interconnected areas into a coherent whole.
Making connections between planning,
assessment & evaluation, and reporting, will
provide you, the teacher, and your students,
with a clearer vision of the educational
year. Cohesive planning will provide clear
direction as you journey with your class
towards the prescribed learning destination.
With an overall vision in place, all the
monthly, weekly and daily teaching
requirements become the logical steps to
fulfilling this vision, rather than
stressful "additions" to your teaching load.
A first time
user of the Tool Box is encouraged to look
at the sections of the document as a whole,
in order to understand the overall
connections. Contents pages at the start of
each of the three following sections will
help you to locate specific information.
Section A,
the Planning Cycle, outlines the
three-step approach to planning.
Section B,
the Assessment and Evaluation component,
forms the basis for an approach, which
emphasizes assessment-driven planning and
instruction.
Section C,
the Reporting Process Guidelines for
Catholic Elementary Schools, were revised at
the outset of the 2005/06 school year, since
many new directives from the B.C. Ministry
took effect in July, 2006.
Both Sections A
and B are currently under review.
If you have specific questions or need
clarification on any aspect of planning,
assessment or reporting, please contact the
Superintendent's Office.
